Smoking E-volution Thought
I have been thinking about the stupidity of the FDA today as I read through website after website of people who’ve had their lives greatly improved by electronic cigarettes.
FDA listen, because this is really a brilliant idea. You save face with the Big Pharma and with the tobacco industry. You get these massive entities to pay for your “needed” research and everyone walks away happy, expect for maybe the organizations that rely on the cigarette “death” tax.
Approve of electronic cigarettes as both a tobacco product AND as a drug.
Here is where the pharmaceutical companies and the tobacco industry take it all the way home to the bank. Let big Pharma be the exclusive producer of nicotine to the tobacco industry in their brand new line of electronic cigarettes. Imagine, every smoker’s dream, a healthier way to do their favorite LEGAL vice with the brand names they love! Maybe even put a little extra tax on it, and I do mean a little because I have yet to actually see tobacco tax dollars going to save us poor little nicotine addicts, BUT if you don’t tax it, and it become mainstream and BETTER to smoke the electronic cigarette thing of how many lives you will be saving and how much less pollution will be put into the air. Why, by the end of this generation all traditional smoked tobacco could become obsolete.
Stop being afraid of Big Pharma and the Tobacco Industry and USE them to make a healthier nation! Do what you’re supposed to be doing and look out for our health and not the wallets of the people who cause the problem, and are only 5% effective at fixing it.
Make the big industries do the testing and assure the product does exactly what they claim it does. Let the free market do what it is designed to do: create the best product out there. People won’t buy something that doesn’t work. No one has ever claimed a cigarette has given them their life back, but many, many electronic “smokers” don’t just claim it, their medical records prove it.
Think about it…
Smoking E-volution
We all know I am a smoker.
What you may not know, is that my lungs don’t handle it very well.
Still, this is one of those points where I get a TSTL badge. (For those who don’t know, TSTL = To Stupid To Live)
I’ve tried just about everything to quit, including Chantix which has a side effect of suicide, has killed 100 people and is approved by the FDA. Anyway, the statistics for quitting smoking aren’t very good. Even with Big Pharma approved methods, the success rate is only about 5%.
The problem?
Smokers LIKE to smoke. There is a whole pattern of behavior and everything that goes along with the addiction, which, every other method to quit doesn’t take into account.
So what’s the new smoking e-volution?
Electronic cigarettes, of course. Doesn’t everything else we do need a gadget? Yes, it does. and smoking should too, at least from the information I was able to gather on the topic.
One report done in New Zealand shows that e-cigs (Electronic Cigs) are safe enough for the “smoker” to smoke anywhere and still be in compliance with their no public smoking laws. Yep, that’s right folks, imagine a world where you don’t have to go out into the cold to get your nic fix and not harm anyone with your stinky, yucky second hand smoke! Want to see for yourself? Click here to read the report. Not only that, but every ingredient in the nicotine cartridges IS FDA approved for human consumption, including Propylene Glycol (The substance in antifreeze everyone apposed to keeping this product on the market screams about) Sorry to burst your bubble, but Propylene Glycol is in our food. It’s a hummusent and a preservative. Its already in tobacco, and it doesn’t enter the air from an e-cigarette. Deal with it. E-cigs are MUCH healthier than a conventional tobacco cig, but don’t let the FDA catch you saying that! They haven’t tested it yet! Um, hello, idiots! No flame = no smoke = better for you. Not only that, but there are no tars and the other nasty stuff found in cigarette smoke is reduced to either be none existent or trace amounts so small the FDA approves of them being in their approved products!
The concept of the e-cigarette is a personal nebulizer (the miniature version of what asthma patients use to help them breathe better) with a cartridge that contains a mixture of flavor, Propylene Glycol and nicotine (FDA approved nicotine used in all other quit smoking products). I am not going to get into the technical here, because I am not good at it, but the idea is you puff on the e-cig. There is a small heating element that vaporizes the fluid inside the cartridge to produce the nicotine vapor that is then inhaled by the “smoker” and exhales air safe enough for other people to breathe.
Good deal, right?
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking, so I am jumping on the band wagon and plan to be fully tobacco smoke free the day after it arrives. How do I know this is going to work for me? I’ve already tried one. My younger brother let me test his out, which produced a crap load of whining from me about not being able to have my own right NOW!!
Now for the legal crap.
If you are under the age of 18 or are a non-smoker, don’t! It’s that simple. Even if this product (That has been on the market for the last seven years. During which time approximately 2,800,000 people have died due to smoked tobacco related illnesses and 0 (that is Zero) have died from electronic cigarettes) is a safe way to obtain a nic fix, don’t start just because it’s safe. Use common sense here people. You still have to buy the product which costs money and nicotine is addictive. Why be stupid when you’re already smarter than me for not starting in the first place.
We good?
We better be. No nicotine for anyone under 18 and don’t start if you haven’t already if you’re adult or I’ll be sending you your own TSTL badge.
Ok, so, this is product I am getting. V2 Ultimate Kit.
I’ll keep you updated on how it all turns out.
Mandated Child Torture
As you can see I am not a happy camper these days. I had a big old rant about the state of “No Child Left Behind” and sent it off to my father. he decided to post it in his blog. You can read it here.
Apparently it’s not a new concept to “torture” children because, after all, the state does know what’s best for them and state funded schools know how to implement the program. Anyway, have a read and see the horror of having to deal with pubic education in 2010.
No wonder my child has prophetic dreams of me turning into a wolf and devouring evil teachers! Good thing they are home with me and don’t actually have to be locked in a building with these people 5 days a week.
And just when I was beginning to believe someone somewhere in that building had a brain…..
